Junior Jumpstart/Senior Strategy Package
Packages start August of Junior Year through May of Senior Year
Service Description
We offer a comprehensive two year junior/senior package to cover the entire college application process. This package is perfect for families who prefer to have access to counseling throughout the two years. Face to face sessions will be limited to 7 for 11th grade and 20 in 12th grade and will run from mid August of the student's junior year until graduation. We will start working on college lists and activities lists, and will help you become familiar with college applications and financial aid. Starting early helps reduce the stress of senior year. Counseling may include the following: Unlimited email and phone help Review of prior academic accomplishments Advice on course selection Recommendations for extracurricular involvement Testing recommendations In-depth interview on college preferences of both student and parent Career planning by administering career assessment and personality inventory Refinement of choices of college type and major using interest survey(s) Advice on making successful college visits Preparation of a selected list of colleges that is uniquely suited to the student Essay brainstorming sessions will also start as soon as students are ready to proceed. Timelines will be strictly enforced to ensure college applications are ready well ahead of schedule. This counseling package includes close to 40 hours of work/research/meetings done by the Advisor Multiple applications will be covered in this package including the UC application, Cal State application, and the Common App. Brainstorming, editing, and proofreading Common App essay/ Personal Statement Editing of the activities résumé Brainstorming for 8 UC Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) Editing and proofreading 4 UC PIQs 4 supplemental essays are also included in this package. Students may choose which ones we will work on together. Finding scholarships, understanding financial aid and merit aid Help with deciding final choice when decision letters are received Face to face sessions limited to 10 over the school year Access to Zal Method’s student portal to help with organizing the college admission process and college research Timelines will be strictly enforced
